The Northern Ontario School of Medicine at Lakehead University forms one component of a larger school, the other located at Laurentian University in Sudbury. This facility includes smart classrooms, seminar rooms, multi-purpose teaching spaces, examination rooms, a medical library, wet and dry laboratory spaces and medical research laboratories. Each department of the school is linked by a grand staircase, which ascends through a sky-lit atrium.

The social spaces of the school are distributed along this axis, interconnecting all of the departments into a singular whole. Views within the building overlook the campus and a landscaped courtyard re-naturalized with indigenous plant life.
