This centre is an architectural and natural promenade that brings students, staff and visitors into repeated contact with the Otonabee River—the central focus of Ron Thom’s Trent University campus. It is directly linked to the ground floor of the existing science precinct, and to the elevated circulation system of the entire campus. The promenade weaves between these two levels, presenting views of Trent’s unique river landscape. The river is a constant reference point, ever present in the experience of place.
The project provides highly regularized, flexible system of teaching labs in combination with flexible research spaces.
