Located in the Junction Triangle, The Campbell (299 Campbell Avenue) mixed-use development provides a highly anticipated home for the Perth/Dupont Library while also providing much-needed rental units in one of Toronto’s fastest growing communities. At 3,600 sq ft, the Perth/Dupont Library has been one of the smallest public libraries in Toronto for years. In 2013, city council approved developer TAS Design Build’s plans to allocate approximately 10,000 sq ft to the library in their proposed mid-rise building. Today the 15-storey building houses 235 rental units, a ground floor retail space, and the relocated library (designed by Building Arts Architects). Clad in clay brick contrasted with metallic-grey aluminum panels, the sophisticated façade animates the streetscape of the former industrial neighbourhood.
