Teeple Architects has announced the promotion of Richard Lai, Bernard Jin, and Myles Craig to Director, and the promotion of Tomer Diamant to Senior Associate. For the new Directors, each will have their own specialization: Richard Lai will be Director, Project Management; Bernard Jin will be Director, Innovation and Training; and Myles Craig will be Director, Technical Standards.
Richard Lai – Director, Project Management – brings to Teeple Architects over 30 years of architectural design experience in Toronto, New Zealand, and England. He holds particular expertise in complex building detailing, building code and life safety compliance, and renovation and expansion of existing structures. Richard is currently the Project Architect for the Stanley A. Milner Library Renewal in Edmonton, and was Project Architect on the award-winning 60 Richmond East Housing Development project. In his role as Director, Project Management, Richard will develop and maintain project management methodologies, standards, and tools.
Bernard Jin – Director, Innovation and Training – has over 25 years of professional experience in all aspects of the architectural profession. His expertise includes design leadership, project execution, municipal approvals, project management, scheduling, cost management, as well as construction supervision. Bernard is currently working on the OCAD University Creative City Campus, Edmonton Police Service Northwest Campus, and Greybrook Capital Offices. In his role as Director, Innovation and Training, Bernard will be responsible for designing and overseeing the introduction of innovative practices and the use of training programs within the company.
Myles Craig – Director, Technical Standards – with over 20 years of experience, has led the technical development of numerous institutional, residential, and mixed-use projects. He is passionate about precise detailing and working with owners, consultants, construction managers, contractors, builders, and trades to effectively integrate state-of-the-art building systems. This characteristic has been key to completing projects that are at once aesthetically appropriate to their respective settings as well as exceptionally valuable. Myles is currently working on the UBC Okanagan Nechako Commons, Georgian College Advanced Technology, Innovation & Research Centre, and Stratus Centre Silver Star Boulevard Retail-Commercial Development. In his role as Director, Technical Standards, Myles will continue the development of construction document standards and establish procedures for quality assurance.
Tomer Diamant – Senior Associate – since joining Teeple Architects 10 years ago, has helped guide the design and realization of numerous institutional, community, education, and residential projects including Georgian College’s Sadlon Centre for Health & Wellness, Algonquin College Student Commons, and Langara College Science and Technology Building. While Tomer enjoys the challenges of large public work, he is equally at ease working on projects of a more intimate scale, such as the Delta Road Cottage. Tomer is currently working on the University Of Manitoba Desautels Concert Hall At Taché Hall, Morgan State University Student Services Building, and Nunavut Arctic College Kitikmeot Campus Building. In his role as Senior Associate, Tomer will provide management support of the design, construction, and contract management within the firm.
